Target’s HR chief will kick off NEW Summit Oct. 20

Jodee Kozlak will join three other keynoters in Minneapolis

CHICAGO (Aug. 20, 2008) – Jodee Kozlak, executive vice president of human resources for the Target Corp., will give the opening address at this year's Network of Executive Women Leadership Summit, October 20-22 in Minneapolis. Kozlak is responsible for all legal, personnel, labor relations and employment functions at Target, the nation’s second largest general merchandise retailer with more than $63 billion in annual revenue and more than 360,000 employees worldwide.

Kozlak will speak at the diversity event’s opening dinner October 20. She will be followed on October 21 by Jeff Noddle, chairman and CEO of SuperValu; Cathleen Benko, vice chairman and chief talent officer of Deloitte; and Amy Curtis-McIntyre, senior vice president of branding for Hyatt Hotels. More than four hundred consumer products and retail executives are expected to attend the seventh annual Summit.

The Summit opens Monday, October 20 with store tours of six Twin Cities retailers: ALDI, the low-cost grocery chain; full-service supermarket Cub Foods; IKEA, the global flat-pack home store; upscale grocer Lunds & Byerly's; hypermarket SuperTarget; and food retailer Trader Joe's. The opening day will conclude with a reception and dinner featuring a Silent Auction benefiting NEW's scholarship fund. A Deep Dive Career Self-Management workshop, hosted by Sandra Bushby, director of Women's Initiatives for KPMG, will offer an intensive daylong learning opportunity October 22. Other optional events include a first-ever first-timers orientation, a diversity best practices share group and a multicultural workforces/women of color briefing.

Career themes will be addressed at five breakout sessions: "Authentic Living: Rewrite Your Tomorrow," presented by Mike Jaffe of Jaffe Life Designs; "Change Leadership: Bridging the Gap from Current Reality to Future Vision," by Bonnie Curtis of Procter & Gamble’s Global Oral Care Product Supply Organization and Donna Rae Smith of Bright Side, Inc.; "Cultural Intelligence and Effective Engagement," by Denise Andrews and Candi Fetzer of Legacy Unlimited; "Generations at Work: Creating a Competitive Advantage," by Deb Barrett of Procter & Gamble North America; and "Mature Workers — New Solution to an Age Old Problem,” presented by Laurel Kennedy of Age Lessons.

Jodee Kozlak joined Target in 2001 as director of employee relations and employee relations general counsel, and was named to her current post in 2005. Prior to joining Target, Kozlak was a partner at Minneapolis law firm Greene Espel. She previously served as a senior associate at Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly and a senior auditor at Arthur Andersen & Co, both in Minneapolis. She received a B.A. degree in accounting from the College of St. Thomas and her law degree from the University of Minnesota. Kozlak is a vice president of the board of the Guthrie Theater and a member of the board of Park Nicollet Health Systems. She is a member of the board of governors for Opportunity International, an organization that employs microfinance to lift people from poverty.
