Dallas/Ft. Worth named 'best of the best'
Dallas/Ft. Worth has won the Network of Executive Women’s Best of the Best Regional Team Award for 2009. The group was recognized for its growth, programming, attendance, sponsorship and outreach. “We received many compelling committee nominations this year, but Dallas/Ft. Worth stood out because of their leadership, strategic planning and execution," said NEW Regional Chair Maria Edelson, vice president of sales for Evenflo. "They built a high-performance work team that was collaborative and inclusive and worked closely to execute national as well as regional objectives. They delivered quality programs that drove growth in sponsorship, membership and regional event participation by over 50 percent,” she said. “These numbers are impressive because this region is less than four years old and has a small retailer base in their marketplace." A new study by Deloitte Consulting LLP finds that Gen Y retail professionals are less satisfied with their jobs and career paths than Gen Y professionals in other industries. Deloitte surveyed 860 Gen Y professionals -- 59 working in retail companies -- to assess motivators and work attitudes. Thirty-percent of Gen Y respondents working at retail companies said they had worked for their current employer for four or more years, compared to 13 percent of respondents in other industries. But satisfaction levels among young retail professionals were below average: 27 percent of retail respondents said they "very dissatisfied" or "somewhat dissatisfied" in their jobs, compared to 18 percent of respondents in other industries.
