NEW Canada spreads Network’s mission
The Network launched NEW Canada, its first group outside the United States, last month in Toronto. Addressing a crowd of more than 1,500 industry leaders at the Canadian Council of Grocery Distributors Ontario Conference Nov. 17, NEW Canada committee members Stacey Kravitz and Arlene Minott said NEW Canada will offer industry-specific best practices on diversity, recruitment and retention; foster networking and connections virtually and through conferences and regional events; and provide workshops, webinars and other tools to help companies develop future leaders, meet their diversity goals and implement business strategies. Top execs to headline NEW multicultural event
The fourth annual Network of Executive Women Multicultural Workforce Conference, to be held March 1-3, 2011 in Atlanta, will feature cpg/retail leaders Sandy Douglas, president of Coca-Cola North America; Keith Wyche, president and CEO of Cub Foods; and Roz Brewer, division president, Southeast Operations, for Walmart. The three-day national event, “Building Competencies, Growing Business,” will offer practical takeaways for advancing strategic relationships, leveraging employee resource groups and better using business teams to maximize customer expectations. Attendees will learn how to align marketing and merchandising teams to collaborate at a higher level and break down silos to advance innovation. More
Cincinnati event breaks record with 650 attendees
The Network of Executive Women’s Cincinnati region broke attendance records with its Nov. 3 “Making It Happen!” event featuring Edwina Dunn, cofounder of dunnhumby. More than 650 NEW members and guests representing more than 70 companies and universities participated in the event. Dunn reflected on the stories and lessons of her life building a global business and shared her thoughts on how women can make ‘it’ happen — regardless of what they want ‘it’ to be. More
Women worried about retirement finances
A survey of career women age 45 to 70 earning $75,000 or more found they are highly confident about how to manage money, but fear they may never have enough money to retire. “The MetLife Study of Finances and Female Executives” revealed 62 percent of these women feel they are not financially well positioned to retire, with nearly half reporting their families count on their income. On average, the women surveyed plan to retire between age 65 and 66. More
Northern California breakfast a dream for 350
A networking breakfast hosted by NEW’s Northern California region drew more than 350 cpg/retail executives and emerging leaders to the Bridges Golf Club in San Ramon, Calif., Oct. 15. Matthew Kelly, president of Floyd Consulting, urged Network members and supporters to purposefully identify and pursue their dreams. Also at the event, Lori Proctor, the region’s 2010 Best of the Best committee member, was recognized for receiving the Network’s national Bobbie O’Hare Award. More |
