Tampa committee puts heart into homeless effort

Committee members pitch in at Metropolitan Ministries

The Tampa Regional Committee got together June 12 for their first volunteer day at Metropolitan Ministries, a group that provides life-changing assistance to poor, hungry and homeless men, women and children.

Close to 20 committee members spent the morning at the organization's headquarters assisting with food prep in the kitchen, sorting and assembling Boxes of Hope, helping families shop at the Metro Market and Thrift Store and rocking babies in the daycare facility.

The group contributed 80 hours of volunteer work and donated copy paper, peanut butter, travel-size soaps, tooth brushes, toothpaste, yogurt, and canned milk. “Working side-by-side on the various tasks was a great way to build our team and give back to the community at the same time,” said Judy Hobbs, co-chair of the Tampa regional committee said.
