NEW will honor its 2004 Scholarship winner and William Grize, president and CEO of Retail Operations for Ahold USA, at a gala reception Sunday, May 2, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Mr. Grize has been named NEW’s 2004 Outstanding Champion in recognition of his support for the Network. The cocktail reception is sponsored by Deloitte & Touche USA, which is an active sponsor of NEW’s efforts in the retail/consumer packaged goods industry.

“I urge every NEW member, sponsor and supporter to attend our reception,” said NEW Executive Director Joan Toth. “It’s a great opportunity to honor Bill, who has done a fantastic job supporting NEW, and to network with new and old friends.”

Diversity dialogues

NEW will also host diversity dialogues throughout the week at the Procter & Gamble exhibit at McCormick Place. NEW’s exhibit, located in booth 2055, will introduce NEW’s leadership team to industry members and facilitate an exchange of ideas on best practices for diversity.

“We applaud P&G for taking a leadership role in showcasing NEW at FMI,” said Kimberly Betts, director of communications for Ahold USA and NEW’s president. “P&G has been tremendously proactive in its internal diversity efforts, as well as driving the benefits of an inclusive workforce in our industry.”

More than thirty thousand supermarket retailers, wholesalers and suppliers will attend FMI 2004. The show will feature more than one thousand exhibitors and five trade shows, including FMI, the Fancy Food Show, the U.S. Food Export Showcase, the United Produce Expo and Conference, and All Things Organic.
